That’s definitely the Masonic alphabet although I have seen variations too. The fact that the key has been written on the front cover is of course a good indicator that it isn’t the actual key. Hence it’s demonstrating that it requires knowledge of cyphers.

Drew has suggested Plantard is using the Pigpen cipher here. 

I must say he seems to be right -
